Presentation:

In recent years there has been growing conversation and concern about diversity in the work place. Companies have begun to craft diversity plans and initiatives, but enacting those plans is another matter.

Diversity comes in many forms… ethnic, social, gender, and intellectual. All these factors matter when building a more inclusive landscape. A more diverse organization will lead to a diversity of new thinking, new processes, and innovation. These are key tenants to building a forward thinking, competitive, and creative Communication, IxD or UX team.

In a time where many will criticize our field as having “idea deficit”, diversity will be a key factor in moving our profession forward.

Speaker:

R. Brian Stone, Associate Professor in the Ohio State University’s Department of Design, will engage us in a discussion about design and diversity.

He will share a brief background and propose ways to openly discuss and elevate diversity in its many forms as a means to elevate creative teams and organizations.
